The Arlington house is located in Arlington Heights near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Park Avenue.  From Rt 2, take exit 58: Park Avenue Exit toward Arlington.  Follow Park Avenue to the intersection with Massachusetts Avenue (Brighams and the UPS store are on the corners).  Turn right and The Children's Room is on the right about 1/4 mile down, after Dunkin Donuts.  For easy parking, take a right off of Massachusetts Avenue before the Dunkin Donuts onto Richardson then take a left onto Appleton.  The Children's Room is on the left a couple of houses down.  Park anywhere on Appleton on the right.

Executive Director

Barbara Clarke   Barbara joined The Children's Room in September 2006.  Previously, she worked with Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit serving poor and homeless children. Prior to that she had a long career in management consulting at both PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG. While in consulting, Barbara worked with numerous Fortune 100 companies as well as venture-backed start up companies.  Barbara holds a Masters in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University and a BA in Quantitative Economics from Tufts University.

Program Director
Donna Sharff LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) holds a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University.  Donna is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our program delivery.  She supervises the volunteers and staff who work with the children and families.  In addition, Donna works directly with the children and adults in our peer support groups as a facilitator.  Donna has been with The Children's Room since 2003.  Donna’s previous clinical experience includes individual counseling and group facilitation with children, adolescents and adults through Strattus Mental Health Centre and Housing Families, Inc.  Prior to working in the mental health field, Donna worked as a small business manager in the training industry.


Program Staff
Nancy Lubin-Levy helped launch our program at our Framingham location. She holds a Masters in Education in special education from Boston University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work from Simmons College.  She worked for many years in a day treatment program for children with emotional problems.  She began volunteering at The Children's Room March, 2004 and became a staff member in March 2005.  She has also participated in training at The Dougy Center in Portland Oregon, a national center for grieving children and teenagers. Nancy was widowed over a decade ago while pregnant with her third child and her other children were 4 and 6 years old.

Mark Redmond joined the program staff in the summer of 2005. Mark holds a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University. He brings experience in both administrative and direct service/clinical capacities to The Children's Room. Mark has a dozen years of experience in not-for-profit organizations including Family Housing Inc., Horizons for Homeless Children, and The Samaritans. In addition to his role at The Children's Room, Mark is on staff at the Lesley University Counseling Center.

Katie Tetuan LCSW joined the program staff in September 2006. She came to The Children's Room from Dallas where she worked for American Hospice as a medical social worker. She has also worked for Gilda's Club North Texas, providing support to children that had experienced the death of a family member to cancer. She also worked at a summer camp for bereaved children through Hillcrest Community Hospice in Waco, TX.  Katie also works for Wediko Children's Services as a school-based therapist in the Boston Public School system.  Katie holds a MSW from Boston College and a BSW from Baylor University in Waco, TX.

Anne Favaloro, Communications Director.  Anne has been a writer and producer of multimedia, television, and print projects for 20 years. She spent ten years in public television at WGBH in Boston. Anne was managing editor of the first magazine about the internet for kids, and contributed to its award-winning MaMaMedia website filled with learning activities. She has many years of experience in educational publishing as a writer and editor. Anne became a volunteer facilitator at The Children¹s Room in 2004, and joined the staff in 2007. Anne holds a BA from Princeton University, and a Masters in Education from Harvard.

Colleen Shannon is the program administrator for The Children's Room and volunteers during group meetings.  She holds a BS from Lesley University with a major in art therapy and a minor in psychology.   Her previous experience includes working as an art therapy intern at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Jimmy Fund Clinic where she led therapeutic art activities for children and teens with cancer in both a communal playroom setting and in one-on-one in private infusion rooms. She has also worked as an art therapy/mental health counseling intern at Franciscan Children's Hospital.  She has volunteered at Camp Sunshine: A Retreat for Children with Life Threatening Illness.  Colleen is currently attending Salem State College for a Masters in Social Work.

Kate Killion is the administrative assistant for The Children's Room.  She has been a long time volunteer at The Children's Room and received a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1993.
